Hands on with Far Cry 2, and I am blown away.

I like well detailed games with a lot of art and scenery, The engine seems very smooth with decent fps at a resolution of 1900X1200 with an average of 65fps with a Quad Core 3.2Ghz with Twin Nvidia 8800 Ultras graphics cards installed, I do notice the LOD system swapping normal to long distance objects but this is hardly noticeable given the amount of objects on screen within your viewpoint.

Missions can be lacking, AI can be slow at times as the enemy finds a good spot hidden or otherwise trying to shot at you, however the enemy takes on some weird tactics when blocked by some objects and I am not sure if this is a glitch or by design, but I like the way you get ambushed by a vehicle blocking the road that forces you to stop, this seems to trigger another enemy vehicle coming up from the rear blocking your escape so you have to be bloody fast to react and I like surprises like that, The storyline is the only big drawback as it took me forever to get through the game and this can get tedious.

Modding point of view, the possibilities here are endless given that I would want to do a Stargate Atlantis Mod and this engine seems to be the best option for that, The vehicle handling is a little weird but with a mod this could be put right in time.

Other then ramble on about how good the game is, here is some pictures from the game that speak for them selfs, and one final thing. I know what engine to pick now for 50 states.

Any comments?

It would be cool if you did some mods on this engine but i probably would have to pay no attention to it. I would not be able to get this game for 2 reasons. Very powerful game - Not so powerful PC. And i wouldn't have the cash to get that game. Plus i have school to worry about at the moment. plus an up and coming job soon. but it is a good idea the limits on this engine are only bound by the computer used to push its limits. I played the console Xbox 360 version and this game is beyond belief. i would like to see you model some new objects for it. the objects in it now are small in amount and lack in quality. But its cool with your skills and your team i dont see why this wouldnt work out.

Good Luck to you and your team.
